The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development oversees various youth employment initiatives, including the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and the Work, Learn and Grow (WLG) program. Through these initiatives, young New Yorkers have the opportunity to explore career interests, build effective workplace skills, and participate in enriching experiences that enhance their social, civic, and leadership capacities. By supporting these programs, employers play a pivotal role in equipping New York City youth for careers ahead.

Program Details
  • Hire high school interns for in-person, remote, or hybrid work
  • Youth are paid $16/hour through the program; no cost to the employer
  • Interns can work up to 12 hours per week afterschool or on weekends, and up to 20 hours per week during school breaks.
